Qualifications & Experience

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychometrics and Psychotherapists. Additionally, I am a Certified Trauma Treatment Specialist (CTTS) with the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and an undergraduate degree from Queen's University. In addition to these degrees I have specialized training in the treatment and prevention of addictions, and extensive training in several evidence based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

For the last several years I have been employed by an accredited children's mental health agency. Prior to this, I was employed in a hospital setting providing individual as well as crisis counselling services; as well, I have had the opportunity to facilitate a variety of therapy groups for issues such as parenting, anxiety and depression, and childhood sexual abuse. In these roles I have had the opportunity to work with families and individuals of all ages who are facing a wide range of struggles. Examples of these include relationship problems, parenting support, addictions, self esteem, loss and grief, trauma and abuse (current or historical), as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, ADHD, ODD, and ASD.
